The first special train Jiu-26 transporting 91 injured from the quake-hit Sichuan Province arrived at Beijing West Railway Station at 605 p.m. Wednesday.
More than 200 medical staff members were at the station to help with the transfer with 100 ambulances.
The injured were transported through removable windows to avoid going through narrow train passages.
Each of them has been identified with his or her name, injuries and room number before they were lifted into the ambulances.
According to Director Zhang Yongli of Beijing Emergency Medical Center, the injured, most of them suffering from serious bone fractures, contusion and traumatism, were carefully selected to make sure they can endure the long journey.
All the injured have been transferred to Beijing Aged People's Hospital for further treatment.
The special train left Mianyang city in Sichuan Province at about 9 a.m. on Tuesday and arrived in Beijing without stop.
