A history book about Hong Kong's role in the development of the People's Republic of China was launched on Tuesday in Hong Kong just ahead of the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China.
The 600-page book is the first of its kind to chronologically highlight Hong Kong's internal bond with China. It contains 400,000 words and 1,000 historical photos.
The Subcommittee of Culture & History and Study of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, compiled the book.
More than 70 VIPs from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, including CPPCC Vice Chairman Tung Chee Hwa, attended the launch ceremony in an art center in Kowloon.
