Liu Juncheng, 54, sets sail on a round-the-world journey on Monday, starting from the Yalu River in Dandong, in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Liu plans to sail across the Pacific and Atlantic in three years before returning to the starting point in his hometown. The trip will cover 36,000 nautical miles.
Zhai Mo, 40, a Chinese man from Rizhao, a city in east China's Shandong Province, finished a world voyage, about 40,000 nautical miles, in August after 951 days at sea.
