Radio Netherlands Worldwide awarded the winner of its Happy Blogger contest on Monday afternoon at the Netherlands Pavilion in Shanghai. Tao Wuqi, supported by 30,595 netizens, became the first RNW Happy Blogger Expo Happy ambassador.
Ardi Bouswers, RNW deputy editor-in-chief, said the aim of the activity is to spread the happiness of the Expo throughout the world, especially to those who don't have the chance to go to Shanghai.
"Tao Wuqi's positive and happy attitude towards life represents many youth who live in this city in China. Her authentic and unique blog exhibits her exploration of city life, and her upbeat spirit can best illustrate Chinese young people's attitudes to exploring new things and being ready for challenges at any time in life," she said.
Besides a trophy, the winner of the happy blogger contest also wins 10,000 yuan and the responsibility of finding happiness at the Shanghai Expo.
Starting May 17, Tao will have one month to find the most exciting places and the happiest faces in the Expo Site. She will update her blog at the official website of this event (www.happyrnw.org) to share the happiness she finds at the Expo.
The RNW Happy Blogger activity was launched on April 25, 2010, and up to 12:00 on May 13, 618 bloggers logged onto the website to upload their photos of happiness. The number of voters surpassed 210,000 and more than 150,000 Internet users had viewed the website as of that time.
To encourage more people to join in the activity and share in the happiness of the Expo, the RNW will draw three lucky netizens and give them two free Expo tickets as a prize.
