Trump began implementing sweeping rollbacks of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across the federal government. At the federal level, he has also reinstated the death penalty.

Earlier on Thursday, Trump's deputy chief of staff, Stephen Miller, heralded those changes. "He has ended all DEI across the federal government. He has terminated all federal workers involved in promulgating these unlawful policies," Miller told reporters.
