"China is forging a glorious future and is destined to play a key role in the future of the world," said Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who is currently visiting China, in a speech at Tsinghua University on the morning of April 13. Sánchez, on his fourth visit to China in four years, expressed his appreciation for China's vigorous development. He said that China has become the world's largest exporter of goods, and its industry and technology are changing the global response to climate change and promoting global poverty reduction.
"Today, a multipolar world order is taking shape, not only in terms of power but also in terms of prosperity, which is very important for the world," Sánchez said. He added that multipolarity has become a reality of the world and must be accepted. Some people insist on interpreting reality from a zero-sum game perspective, portraying the growth of some countries as a loss for others. This interpretation is not only wrong but also dangerous, and it limits the possibilities that the future holds for humanity.
"Human progress lies in unity, not in deepening the divisions between people." Sanchez stated that strengthening multilateralism and international cooperation, managing differences peacefully and with mutual respect, and providing more global public goods are essential to better addressing major global challenges such as climate change, inequality, poverty, and disease. Without cooperation from major powers, these goals are simply unattainable.
On the same day, Sanchez and his delegation also visited Xiaomi's technology park in Beijing. Lei Jun, founder and chairman of Xiaomi Group, accompanied Sanchez on a tour of the Xiaomi exhibition hall, introducing Xiaomi's business development in the European market. Sanchez learned in detail about Xiaomi's new products in the fields of automobiles, mobile phones, and smart homes, experienced a Xiaomi car, and took a selfie with a Xiaomi phone, repeatedly praising it as "exceptionally good."
In recent years, Xiaomi has continuously expanded its presence in the European market, establishing partnerships with several Spanish companies, and has now become a leading smartphone brand in the Spanish market.
Sanchez began his five-day visit to China on April 11.
