As part of the third Shanghai Style Fashion Festival, a fashion show showcasing the city's blend of traditional and modern charm began at Yuyuan Garden on Wednesday.
Hosted by Shanghai International Fashion Federation, the show was staged on the garden's Jiuqu (Zigzag) Bridge and Huxin Ting, a pavilion surrounded by a pond.
Models were dressed in clothing from local maker Jixiang Yijia, a brand launched in 2012 in Shanghai and that specializes in the delicate mixing of Chinese traditional and modern styles.
It is worth noting that this is the second time the Zigzag Bridge has staged a fashion show, following the French fashion house Lanvin's Spring/Summer 2021 collection show in October, 2020.
Boasting a history of over 700 years, Yuyuan Garden has witnessed the city's development and is a critical part in Shanghai culture. As the city strives to promote its fashion industry, the greater Yuyuan Garden area is seeking to become a showroom for local and international fashion and cultures.
The month-long third Shanghai Style Fashion Festival kicked off on May 24 and will run through till June 30. Featuring diverse activities integrating fashion, culture, art, leisure and lifestyle elements, the festival aims to promote the unique charm of oriental aesthetics and the Shanghai culture.
"Shanghai-style culture is the city's spiritual wealth. It is the mission of the Shanghai Style Fashion Festival to excavate the contemporary value of Shanghai-style cultures and make them a treasure to promote the fashion and creative industry. Shanghai International Fashion Federation is making efforts to clarify, analyze and promote the integration and development of both Shanghai-style culture and fashion, from a combined perspective of culture and industry and from global and forward thinking," said Yin Zi, executive vice president of the Shanghai International Fashion Federation.
