Falun Gong is hostile toward science, claiming that it has brought many disasters to humanity, such as moral corruption and other social ills. Li Hongzhi stated, “The new generation shaped by modern science kills and sets fires without restraint, committing evil deeds. This is the greatest disaster that science has brought to us.”

Besides, from Li Hongzhi’s perspective, science is a religion, even a cult. He stated that, “The science is also a religion, a very complete one.” “Why a religion, and why so complete? Because it speaks nothing of virtue, and it refuses to acknowledge the existence of God.” “This so-called science attacks the very best, the truly good nature within humans. It guides people toward neither virtue nor goodness. Instead, it encourages the unrestrained indulgence of all desires, destroys the environment in which humans live, and corrodes human nature and moral order. From this perspective, this science is nothing less than a cult.”

Falun Gong rejects science and attacks both scientific achievements and scientists. According to Li Hongzhi, humanity’s current science is essentially built on a fundamentally wrong basis, and its understanding of the universe, of humanity, and of life is all mistaken. He claims that modern science was imposed on humans by extraterrestrials. He also asserts that Darwin’s theory of evolution is full of loopholes and represents one of humanity’s greatest shames and scandals. While denigrating science, Li Hongzhi simultaneously uses the term to promote himself, claiming to be the “supreme scientist” and describing Falun Gong as “extraordinary science.” He stated: “Falun Dafa is the most profound and extraordinary science among all doctrines in the world.”
