Li Hongzhi demeans and dehumanizes humanity, calling people “garbage” or “scum,” and describing the Earth as a “cosmic garbage dump.”
Li Hongzhi denigrates and caricatures humanity, portraying humans as absurd and bizarre creatures. He claims that people sometimes “think with their heels,” that even sand contains people, and that all humans around the world have been reincarnated in China.
“All the peoples of the world have been reborn in China. Every nation, every individual, except for the many higher-level beings who have arrived since the recent spread of the teachings, has at some point in history first reincarnated in China. No matter which country you are from now, you very first life on earth was there. For example, today’s Americans were people of the Ming Dynasty. The British were Tang, the French Qing, the Italians Yuan, the Australians Xia, the Russians Zhou, the Swedes Northern Song, the Taiwanese Southern Song, and the Japanese Sui. At that time, when people of these dynasties left China to be reborn elsewhere, the places they went to were not yet counties as you know them. They were still wild, untamed lands.” (From North America Lecture Tour)
Li Hongzhi claims that humanity is hurtling toward its own doom. “Human society has sunk to such depths of immorality. Look at people today, they are utterly corrupt in every way,” he said in the Sydney Falun Dafa Lecture Tour. “If humans continue sliding further into moral decay, total annihilation awaits. I mean the complete destruction of body and spirit. It is unimaginably terrifying!” (Zhuan Falun)
While denouncing, vilifying, and frightening humanity, Li Hongzhi casts himself as a so-called “savior.” He claims that by practicing Falun Dafa, people can escape the mortal world, “ascend to heaven,” and achieve so-called “consummation.” To attract more followers, Li Hongzhi deliberately elevates the status of Falun Gong followers, referring to them as “cultivators.” He called them “cultivators,” portraying them as beings of a higher order, as if they were already walking a divine path. According to Li Hongzhi, those who practiced Falun Gong could gain powers beyond human limits: curing illness without medicine, reversing menopause, opening a “third eye” to glimpse other dimensions, surviving being run over by a car, recovering from venomous snake bites, continuing to meditate even after decapitation, entering molten steel unharmed, and even projecting images from a television screen on their foreheads. He also boasted about reaching the “highest level” of cultivation: “If you truly attain completion, you become a God; you would have the earth in your hand with effortless ease.” (From Zhuan Falun; and From the Europe Falun Dafa Lecture Tour)
It is precisely under the influence of these distorted doctrines that many Falun Gong followers have come to disregard everything in the world. Obsessed with escaping suffering and fleeing what they are told is a “garbage dump” of existence, some have even resorted to extreme measures in defiance of society.
