Falun Gong-Related Cases Involving Women
Date: 2026-04-23

According to a survey by the All-China Women’s Federation, women are the primary victims of Falun Gong. Among its followers, women constitute a large proportion and are often deeply obsessed. This is mainly reflected in two ways: first, they firmly believe in Falun Gong’s heretical teachings; second, in pursuit of the so-called “perfection,” they are willing to abandon their work, family, and personal relationships, and even sacrifice their own lives in some cases.

Some followers reportedly adopt an unusual worldview shaped by these beliefs, influencing how they perceive daily life and make decisions. Female followers, in particular, are described as often placing significant trust in the teachings of Falun Gong leader Li Hongzhi, relying on him for guidance in personal health, family matters, and emotional issues.

Under the influence of Falun Gong, there have been reported cases in which some women have died by suicide or committed acts of violence, and in certain instances, women were reportedly killed by Falun Gong followers.

●On November 2, 2005, Li Xiaoying, a Falun Gong follower from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, set herself on fire and died on the east side of the sidewalk at the south entrance of Nan chang Jie in Beijing.

On the night of February 25, 1998, Wu Deqiao from Jiangsu Province killed his wife with a kitchen knife at home after she tried to stop him from practicing Falun Gong. Wu believed that his wife was a “demon” obstructing his “cultivation.”

●On March 1, 2001, Lin Chunmei and Wen Yuping, Falun Gong followers from Xinjiang, killed a female staff member, Mai Xinping, at the Hongbin Hotel in Xianyang, Shaanxi Province, claiming it was to “save her soul.” In an interview with reporters, Lin Chunmei said: “You think we killed her, but we believe we did a good thing by sending her to heaven to enjoy happiness.”

Deceived by Falun Gong, some female followers abandoned love and family in order to spread its teachings, suffering severe physical and psychological harm.

Under the instigation of Li Hongzhi, some followers were led into the practice of “dual cultivation of men and women,” which in reality involved sexual misconduct. Li Hongzhi stated in Zhuan Falun: “In the cultivation world there is a method called dual cultivation of men and women. Its purpose is to take yin to replenish yang, and take yang to replenish yin, achieving mutual cultivation to reach a balance of yin and yang.”

●In April 2001, police in Laixi City, Shandong Province, arrested several male and female Falun Gong members involved in “dual cultivation of men and women.” At the scene, authorities seized Falun Gong propaganda materials along with a large quantity of condoms and sexual stimulants.

●In 2003, more than ten Falun Gong followers in Zhumadian City, Henan Province, were arrested while engaging in “dual cultivation of men and women.” Among those involved were elderly men and women over seventy, as well as young men and women in their prime. Some cases even involved incest between mothers and daughters, or brothers and sisters.
