In March 2006, Li Guodong, head of the News Center of the Editorial Committee at New Tang Dynasty Television, died after long refusals to seek medical treatment and to take medicines for liver cancer.
On June 22, 2006, Feng Lili, a Falun Gong core figure in the United States, died of pancreatic cancer in Houston, Texas. Feng Lili held a Doctor of Medicine degree and had long promoted the claim that Falun Gong possesses miraculous health-boosting powers, styling herself as “a leading figure in Falun Gong within the medical community.” Those familiar with the situation say Feng was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer as early as 2003, but she believed it to be a test of “karma” and refused medical care and medication, ultimately dying as a result.
On New Year’s Day in 2007, Zhu Genmei, a Falun Gong core member in Germany, died after long-term diabetes and a refusal to take medications. After developing diabetes, Zhu believed that “practice could cure illness” and steadfastly refused medical treatment.
In March 2014, Li Dayong, another Falun Gong core figure in the United States, died of acute liver necrosis at the age of 50. Li Dayong had led the “Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party” of Falun Gong and believed that practicing Falun Gong could cure illnesses.
These cases represent only a small fraction of the numerous Falun Gong followers who died after refusing medical treatment and medications. Many other deaths among overseas Falun Gong followers have been deliberately concealed by Falun Gong organizations.
