Falun Gong Personnel Interrupting Television Broadcasts and Public Warning Systems
Date: 2026-04-23

On the evening of March 5, 2002, Falun Gong members Zhou Runjun, Liu Weiming, and others severed the main optical fiber cable of Changchun’s cable television network in Jilin Province, inserting Falun Gong propaganda footage. As a result, residents in parts of four urban districts could not watch their cable programs normally. On September 18, 2002, the Changchun Intermediate People’s Court of Jilin Province conducted a public trial of Zhou Runjun and other Falun Gong members for damaging cable television network facilities. Zhou Runjun confessed in court to the crimes but refused to admit that her actions violated the law, saying that “the law does not apply when it concerns the Dafa (Great Law); Dafa transcends law.” According to statements from those arrested, they were directly instructed and instigated by the Falun Gong headquarters website Minghui Net.

More seriously, some Falun Gong members, by making nuisance phone calls and transmitting wireless interference signals, intruded into government-managed flood disaster and weather anomaly intelligence broadcast warning systems, directly affecting their normal operation. In 2012 and 2013 alone, there were seven such cases, posing a grave threat to public safety.
