Falun Gong Disrupting Social Order

Falun Gong members in Singapore were sentenced for disturbing local social order. On November 30, 2006, two Singapore Falun Gong members, Huang Caihua and Yu Wenzhong, were fined by a local court for disorderly conduct.  Huang and Yu refused to pay the fines and were subsequently imprisoned. On January 22, 2007, the Singapore court held a trial for six Falun Gong members in a “no-permit gathering” case. At the start of the trial, all six recited Li Hongzhi’s scriptures aloud, and the judge declared them in contempt of court, sentencing all six to two days’ imprisonment.

Falun Gong members in Thailand were arrested for violating local law. On February 8, 2008, 22 Falun Gong adherents staged a so-called “anti-persecution” protest in Bangkok, forcibly distributing Falun Gong pamphlets to pedestrians and disrupting festival celebrations, resulting in their arrest.

Indonesian Falun Gong radio station head sentenced. On September 6, 2011, Gatot Machali, head of the Indonesian Falun Gong “Epoch Times FM Broadcast,” was convicted of “broadcasting without a license” and “disturbing other frequencies.” The Batam Island Court sentenced him to six months in prison, suspended for one year, and fined $5,800. On September 13, Indonesian authorities sealed the “Epoch Times FM Broadcast” in accordance with the law.

Falun Gong members in Vietnam were sentenced. On November 10, 2011, Falun Gong members Wu Dezong and Lei Fantan were sentenced to three years and two years in prison respectively by courts in Hanoi for illegal broadcasting.
