Does the “Sujiatun Concentration Camp” Really Exist?
Date: 2026-04-24

In March 2006, overseas Falun Gong cult media outlets disseminated the so-called “Sujiatun concentration camp” rumour, alleging that the Liaoning Provincial Thrombosis Hospital (a combined traditional Chinese and Western medicine centre specializing in thrombosis treatment, commonly known as the Sujiatun Thrombosis Hospital) in Sujiatun District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, China, had a concentration camp where over 6,000 Falun Gong followers were detained. It was alleged that two-thirds of these individuals had their organs harvested before being incinerated in the camp’s crematorium, with their organs subsequently trafficked illegally across China and abroad. Chinese authorities have repeatedly refuted these Falun Gong fabrications and condemned the cult’s despicable tactics. The international community has likewise confirmed these Falun Gong allegations to be entirely fabricated. On 22 March 2006, David Kombluth, visa officer at the US Consulate in Shenyang, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Sujiatun Thrombosis Hospital; On 14 April 2006, five individuals including David Kohler, Consul General at the US Consulate in Shenyang, along with US Embassy officials Li Qisen and Dr Shapiro, conducted a detailed three-and-a-half-hour inspection of the Sujiatun Thrombosis Hospital. On 14 April 2006, the US State Department spokesperson issued a statement based on investigation reports from the US Embassy in China and the US Consulate in Shenyang regarding the Sujiatun Thrombosis Hospital: “ No evidence was found to suggest that the facility was used for any purpose other than as a public hospital.” CNN, Associated Press, The Washington Post, Reuters, Japan's Asahi Shimbun, The Ottawa Citizen and other media outlets subsequently conducted on-site interviews at the Sujiatun Thrombosis Hospital, confirming that the so-called “Sujiatun concentration camp” was entirely fabricated.
