Sound of Hope is a radio network affiliated with Falun Gong. It targets mainland China with cult and reactionary political propaganda. Its programs routinely include the “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party” in a format that advocates regime change and facilitates Falun Gong defections. More problematically, it has reportedly exploited international telecommunications frequencies beyond treaty allowances to carry anti-China campaigns, interfering with civil aviation and maritime search-and-rescue communications, thereby affecting safety in international civil aviation and shipping. This has drawn condemnation from Chinese authorities and relevant international bodies.
