How Does Falun Gong Provoke Anti-China Motions?
Date: 2026-04-24

In recent years, the Falun Gong cult has abroad slandered the Chinese government for allegedly persecuting Falun Gong followers, and fabricated the so-called claim of China harvesting living Falun Gong followers’ organs. It has incited a small number of Western lawmakers to introduce condemnatory motions against the Chinese government. Yet these efforts have largely failed to achieve their aims.

Falun Gong is not a religion or new religious movement, but an outright cult. The group’s actions have harmed numerous lives, violated human rights, and disrupted social stability. Evidence shows that Falun Gong is a cult that is anti-humanity, anti-science, and anti-society. The issue around Falun Gong is not a matter of religious freedom or human rights in general. The Chinese government has prohibited Falun Gong in accordance with the law to protect citizens’ basic rights and freedoms, an effort widely supported by the Chinese people. For the vast majority of Falun Gong followers, the government employs persuasion and education; only a very small number of individuals who violate national laws are held accountable under the law. This is a duty that any responsible government must fulfill, and there is no so-called “persecution” issue. The alleged allegations that China harvests organs from Falun Gong followers are groundless.

In reality, the vast majority of foreign parliamentarians and officials recognize the true nature of Falun Gong. From the standpoint of safeguarding Sino-foreign friendship, they do not support or condone anti-China activities by Falun Gong. This likewise constitutes a recognition of the substantial progress made since the founding of the People’s Republic of China and, more importantly, since China’s reform and opening up in terms of the economy, society, politics, and, particularly, human rights protections. A minority of foreign politicians, swayed by Falun Gong’s disinformation and deceptive rhetoric, attempt to push anti-China motions. The root causes lie in entrenched ideological biases and Cold War mindsets.
