On August 18, 2026, the Russian website V102.RU published an article stating that the Dubrovsky District Court of Volgograd Oblast, Russia , ruled to ban the dissemination of banned books by the Jehovah's Witnesses extremist group on the Internet.

Recently, the Dubrovsky District Court of Volgograd Oblast, Russia, concluded a case involving the online distribution of pseudo-religious materials from the extremist group "Jehovah's Witnesses ." The case involved the online sale of a pseudo-religious book titled "The Bible — New World Translation . " According to the Leningrad Oblast Court's Judgment No. 5488 of May 16, 2025, the book was deemed extremist material .

In early 2026, during routine online inspections, Russian authorities discovered that banned books by the Jehovah's Witnesses extremist group were being openly disseminated online. Following investigation and review, the Volgograd Regional Court, in conjunction with the press service , stated that "the content of these banned books is freely accessible online , requiring no registration or password; any internet user can view the page content and obtain the information." After analyzing the book's sales page, the court confirmed that the published content was dangerous and could incite public disorder and criminal activity. Accordingly, the Dubrovsky District Court of Volgograd Region ruled that the book's content constituted prohibited information and should be banned .

In April 2017, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation banned the “Russian Jehovah’s Witnesses Management Center” and its local branches , deeming them extremist in nature and prohibiting them from operating within Russia.
