Ma Xingyuan, 43,was a worker at the Baise Leather Factory in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. She started practicing Falun Gong in January 1999. On July 7 this year, she suddenly climbed onto the top of a hill and, looking towards the sun, claimed that she had become an "immortal." It took her family much effort to persuade her to return home.
Ma's husband says, "The practice of Falun Gong turned her into an idiot. At home, her hair was disheveled. She threw all the bedding onto the ground. Sometimes she even threw things at me…. When I had to lock her in the room, she broke all the windowpanes."
Ma Xingyuan not only created turmoil at home, but also disturbed and terrified the neighbors. One of her neighbors says, "She shouted and screamed at night, and grabbed everyone she saw." She kept like this for four days and nights, until her family sent her to hospital.
After half a month's treatment in the hospital, Ma was discharged at the end of July. She became a normal person again.
