On December 19, 1999, Falun Gong practitioner Jiang Wenli (female, age of 56, retired worker of Huaihe Paper Mill) of Zhongshi District, Bengbu, Anhui Province, lost her mind when she practiced Falun Gong at home, chopping and cutting madly with axe and scissors. She chopped her husband Niu Yunhua in the face and abdomen several times, and then cut the haunchs of him with scissors and swallowed some of the muscle tissues. After that, she became totally unconscious, lying on the floor half naked and talking nonsense, crying, "come and save me, dear Li Hongzhi." On December 20, she died in her bed.
Jiang started practicing Falun Gong since November 1998 and became more and more eccentric ever since. She stayed at home during the day and went out at night, not allowing anyone to enter her home. Her husband Niu Yunhua, ill with several diseases, was hospitalized on November 27, 1999. He returned home on December 9 and stayed in bed till his death on the afternoon of December 19. At the time, Jiang felt that she was controlled by someone invisible that kept asking her to cut the sore in the hips of her husband with scissors and swallow the flesh so that her husband would come back to life. Jiang lost control of herself, swallowed some of the flesh and left what remained on the floor, covering it with a basin. After that, she picked up axe and kitchen knife, chopping furniture and other household items. When the police came, they found Jiang lying on the floor half naked and shaking freezingly, her husband dead in the bed. There were a number of knife cuts on the body of her husband, and some muscle tissues were taken. During the police investigation of Jiang, she was unconscious all the time and kept talking nonsense, crying "come and save me, dear Li Hongzhi" now and then. At about 10pm of December 20, Jiang died in her bed.
