Zhang Yude, aged 47, from the village or Hugou in Nüerhe Township, Taihe District in Jinzhou of Liaoning Province.
Zhang started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. After a period of practice, he appeared to become distraught and always got up at midnight to read books on Falun Gong in the dark. Because he would not listen to his wife's appeals, tensions developed in the couple's relationship and they frequently quarreled. In a pique, Zhang Yude left home one day and started to live alone in an empty shack in the village orchard. He read books and practiced Falun Gong day and night. Later, he was persuaded by others to return home, but continued his reading and practicing as well as still quarreling with his wife.
Finally, Zhang Yude became insane and committed suicide by taking poison.
