Gao Wenhui, 52, a resident in Lutou Township of Longkou City, Shandong Province.
She started practicing Falun Gong in the fall of 1997 and gradually became obsessed with it. She never went to bed before 10 o'clock but got up around 3:30 in the morning to practice again. She told her husband, "I dreamed that Master Li Hongzhi invited me to Heaven. I was pushed by someone from below and pulled by Master Li from above, but I still couldn't go to Heaven simply because my 'Falun Gong' power is not big enough." In the fall of 1998, she became mentally deranged. She left home and attempted suicide by trying to throw herself in front of a moving vehicle but was fortunately stopped by others. Later, she was taken to the Huangshanguan Psychiatric Hospital for treatment. After a length of stay in the hospital, her condition was improved and she returned home. Although she stopped practicing since then, she sometimes said to her husband, "The earth is going to meet its doomsday. Master Li says I've already achieved divinity and he wants me to go to Heaven." On 28 June, 1999, Gao Wenhui managed to convince others in her family to leave her alone at home. She locked herself up and committed suicide by swallowing pesticide.
