Born in Baotou, north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Luo Juzhi was an employee in a state-owned enterprise before retirement, living in the Eastern Qingshan Road of Qingshan District. However, she committed suicide by cutting her wrist in desperation, with deep love towards her youngest son, in March 2009.

Why Luo Juzhi killed herself? Her youngest son Li Jingning had been crazy about Falun Gong and showed ingratitude towards her, which made her feel meaningless and nothing worth cherishing in life. At last, she cracked up and chose self-destruction.

As Luo Juzhi's youngest son, Li Jingning, ethnic Han, was born in 1968. After finishing his middle and high school education in Baotou, Li Jingning was enrolled at Beijing Medical University and had been working in Beijing since he graduated. In 1997, Li Jingning went to the United State to pursue his doctor's degree at his own expense. Later, he lived a decent life by working in a biological research enterprise in the State of Maryland, US. From 2000 to 2002, he became chairman of Chinese Student and Scholar Association in the Catholic University of America. He also became a Falun Gong devotee, and has delivered many Falun Gong-related articles and speeches through Falun Gong media including the Epoch Times and New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV).

Li Jingning's wife Ma Ruijing, ethnic Han, was born in 1969 in Baotou as well. Having the same educational background, she went to the US to live with her husband later. The couple were infatuated by Falun Gong during their study in the US by attending various activities. They have been addicted to Falun Gong so deeply that promoted it via the Internet.

Luo Juzhi and her husband Li Hongqiu both fell ill since 2002. The former suffered from osteoporosis, completely bedridden; while the latter had gastric cancer with confirmed diagnosis in 2006.

When they both fell ill, they missed their youngest son most and looked forward to seeing him. But Li Jingning traveled around the world without coming back home by varied excuses since his went to the US in 1997. When his brother asked for some financial aid to give his parents medical care, Li Jingning mentioned little about that and showed no concern though he had a very decent life.

On the contrary, he instigated his parents believing Falun Gong and advocated that one who believed Falun Gong didn’t need to see a doctor or have medicine, and various diseases could be cured by practicing, more economical and effective than having medicine, etc..

Li Hongqiu was not able to speak when his life approached to an end. Li Jingning’s brother called him back to see his father for the last chance. To one’s surprise, Li Jingning said, “Birth and death is the order of nature. A man’s body is just a pile of protein, so follow the God’s will…”

Li Hongqiu’s illness was worse for missing his son too much. Even the last moment before his passing, he still wished to see his son, who didn’t come back at last.

In the winter of 2007, Li Hongqiu cried the name of his youngest son and died in desperation. Falun Gong had made the couple conscienceless. Once considered the most promising son by his mother, Li Jingning became inhuman after following Falun Gong led by Li Hongzhi. As Li Hongzhi said, “You know that in this lifetime you are family, but did you know that in your previous life you might not have been?...In this lifetime that person is your child, but whose child was he in his previous life.” (Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles)

Misled by Falun Gong, the couple completely lay down their concern for their loved ones and their responsibilities as offspring, which finally resulted in a human tragedy.

After the passing of her husband, the bedridden Luo Juzhi was left without the ability of self-care. She realized that her son lost the basic filial piety of human though once considered most promising. She was more desperate and gloomy with increasingly worse condition.

She knew that she couldn’t live long clearly, but she held the last illusion to let her son back home. She asked others to call Li Jingning again and again and would like to see him herself for the last time. It turned out that the last will of Luo Juzhi was gone because Li Jingning refused to come back home, which eventually led to Luo Juzhi’s self-murder.
