The Falun Gong organization is planning to stage a so-called "Divine Performing Arts Spectacular" at theinfrom February 11 to 15, 2009. The event will be cosponsored by the New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) and Falun Dafa Association of Washington, DC, which are both subordinates of the Falun Gong organization. The organization has been publicizing and selling tickets for the "Spectacular" recently in an attempt to stimulate audience interest and convince the public to endorse the event by way of sending letters of congratulations or sponsorship. Before you decide to view the show, it is necessary to find out more about Falun Gong and the "Divine Performing Arts Spectacular".

1. Falun Gong is an anti-society cult.

Falun Gong, also known as "Falun Dafa", was founded by Li Hongzhi in in the early 1990s. This organization preaches heretical fallacies that are anti-humanity, anti-science and exercises extreme mental manipulation on its followers. It is a cult that seriously harms society and violates human rights. It is a cancer in the body of the modern, civilized society. Li Hongzhi, the chief ring leader of Falun Gong, says that mankind has been destroyed 81 times, and that he has delayed the explosion of the earth by 30 years. He says that mankind is corrupted, and the earth is the dumping ground of the universe He asserts that by practicing Falun Gong, the "true law" above all religion, one would never become sick or get in danger. He even claims that the Holocaust of Jewish people by Hitler was a result of changes in celestial phenomena. According to incomplete statistics, over 1,000 cult practitioners have died because they followed Li's teachings and refused to seek medical treatment for their illnesses. Several hundred practitioners committed self-mutilation or suicide. Over 30 innocent people have been killed by mentally deranged practitioners of Falun Gong. Falun Gong advocates "truthfulness, benevolence and tolerance", but, in fact, the cult tolerates no opposing views whatsoever. It has, time and again, organized practitioners to besiege ordinary Chinese citizens, media and government institutions who questioned its fallacies. 2. Falun Gong is a political group that is utterly anti-China and seeks to undermine China-US relations.

To protect human rights and the interests of the public, the Chinese Government outlawed the Falun Gong cult in accordance with the law in 1999. But here in the United States, the cult appears as a "religious group" and continues to deceive the public and preach cult messages. In addition, it is also engaged in anti-China political activities aimed at undermining China-US relations. From fabricating stories to attack and vilify the Chinese Government and filing unwarranted lawsuits against Chinese Government institutions and officials, to harassing the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in the US, and engaging in anti-China propaganda, aimed at undermining China's stability and overthrowing the Chinese Government, the cult group has sunk further and become a downright anti-China political group. The Chinese community in the generally opposes and condemns the cult and its anti-China activities.

3. The so-called "Spectacular" is a tool of the cult and anti-China agitprop.

The so-called "NTDTV" and "Divine Performing Arts" are controlled by the Falun Gong cult. They have been staging the so-called "spectaculars" in the in recent years in the name of promoting Chinese culture and showcasing oriental charm. But in fact, tacky taste and low artistic value characterized the "spectaculars", which were also filled with cult messages and implied attacks against the Chinese Government. The program of the "spectaculars" include the "Holy Falun King" eulogizing Li Hongzhi, "A Song to Truthfulness, Benevolence and Tolerance" and "Seeking Facts" that preached the cult’s message and a dance playing up the rumor of "persecution on Falun Gong by Chinese Government". Li Hongzhi even claimed openly that it was he who instructed the various Falun Gong groups to organize the "divine spectaculars", and that the "spectaculars" were aimed at "showcasing the practitioners, salvation and telling the truth" rather than entertainment for ordinary people. Clearly, the so-called "divine spectaculars" are not a cultural performance but a political tool of Falun Gong to preach cult messages, spread anti-China propaganda, increase its own influence and raise funds. Such a show denigrates and distorts the Chinese culture, deceives, makes fools of and even brings harm to the audience. Quite a number of US media also carried articles about what the so-called "spectaculars" really were. (e.g. A Glimpse of Chinese Culture That Some Find Hard to Watch by New York Time on 6 February 2008 and Ties to Falun Gong add Controversy to the Chinese New Year Spectacular by Los Angeles Times on 7 January 2008)

Chinese culture, with its long history and rich variety, has long been popular and loved by the American public. When endorsing or appreciating events and performances in celebration of the Chinese New Year, the public needs to stay away from the so-called "divine spectacular" of the Falun Gong organization so as to avoid being deceived and used by the cult.
