Wu Huanfeng, of Heze City, Shandong Province, was very popular with his neighbors before he began to practice Falun Gong. He attended medical school after graduating from high school. Later, he run a drug store.
At the end of 1998, Wu began to practice Falun Gong. Before long, he suffered from delusions and auditory hallucinations. He became incoherent, and tried to commit suicide by slashing his wrists and hanging himself. On July 16 1999, his family took him to the No.3 People's Hospital of Heze Prefecture.
Zhu Daoxing, the physician in charge of Wu, said, "He was afflicted by dysphrenia. He said that he heard that the master told him to end his life so that he could become the emperor, the Son of Heaven, wearing an imperial robe."
Wu's elder brother confirmed this: "He actually did say that. He said if one cut himself and then put on clothes, they would become an imperial robe."
On the morning of July 17, Wu Huanfeng ran out of the hospital and threw himself in front of a passing truck. Fortunately, he was not killed, and after treatment for his injuries he awoke from the nightmare of Falun Gong.
