Ye Xiaoling, young life ended by Falun Gong

2007-08-17

Ye Xiaoling, 23, was a student in the fourth year at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department of the Anhui Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Around four o'clock in the morning of November 27, 1997, Ye jumped down from her ward on the fifth floor of the hospital, ending her still young life.

Ye was a rural girl from Lujiang County, Anhui Province. Bright and conscientious, she passed the college entrance examination and enrolled in the Anhui Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1994. Unfortunately, in February 1997 she was diagnosed with a tumor in her spleen and colon. The tumor had begun to affect her ovaries. An operation was performed under the instruction of famous tumor experts in Anhui Province. Late in July, her illness rapidly took a favorable turn. A CT scan revealed no ascites in her abdomen and the tumor had not affected other organs.

Who could have imagined that just at this stage someone would come to peddle Falun Gong to Ye Xiaoling. They claimed that if she practiced Falun Gong, her tumor would be completely cured. So Ye joined the other Falun Gong practitioners, intending to receive medical treatment and practice Falun Gong at the same time. Not long after, a manager of the practice site began to instill "Li Hongzhi's theory" to her. He preached that the infinite power of Falun Gong could cure all illnesses, "so once you start practicing it, you should stop getting medical treatment and taking any medicine." Ye, at the time bewildered, accepted the preaching. From then on, she was dragged into a bottomless quagmire, unable to extricate herself . At last, she left a note in her ward and quietly moved to the home of the manager of the practice site so as to exclusively "receive energy released" by him.

By November, four months after she had stopped medical treatment, her condition turned obviously worse. She suffered from ascites, accompanied by acute pains in her abdomen. Her classmates managed to drag her to the hospital, but it was already too late. In the hospital, Ye said tearfully to her kind classmates, "Don't care about me anymore. It's too late for any medical treatment.

When her classmates sorted out Ye's belongings after her death, they found books, tapes and video tapes on Falun Gong piled up at the head of her bed, and some notebooks about her understanding of Falun Gong. Moreover, there were packets of tumor treatment medicine that had been left untouched.
