Dong Ning's 'plan to deliver all living beings from the mortal world' fails

2007-08-17 Author:Li Dejin

In early 1999, Dong Ning, a Falun Gong practitioner and a worker at the Changhong Electronic Gear Factory in Weihai, Shandong Province, believed he had "attained all-round fulfillment" and drew up a plan to "deliver others" by killing someone before killing himself. His workmate Liu was his first target. On January 7, 1999, he attacked Liu, but fortunately the latter escaped injury. On the evening of the following day, Dong Ning attacked his father with a kitchen knife. When his father escaped, Dong Ning attacked his neighbor Jiang Wencai, a 76-year-old pensioner, but was apprehended by Jiang's son, who received several cuts in the process. Dong Ning was then taken into custody by the local police.

Talking about his motivation, Dong Ning said the only idea in his mind was that there was somebody calling him to take somebody away, a friend or a relative. If he took a person away with him, he could "attain all-round fulfillment," become a "supernatural man" and "deliver others from the mortal world." On January 29,1999, psychoanalysis done by the Yantai Psychological Therapy Hospital proved that Dong Ning's motivation for killing people was dementia resulting from his practice of Falun Gong. On February 8, 1999, he was set free.

On December 12, 2000, Xu Cenglong, deputy secretary of the Weihai Party Politics and Law Committee, introduced Dong Ning's case to this reporter and expressed his alarm at the serious harm Falun Gong had brought to the country, society, practitioners and their families. Xu said Dong Ning, 27, became a worker after he graduated from senior middle school, and worked hard. In September 1997, Dong was introduced to Falun Gong. He bought some related books, audio and video tapes. One year later, Dong had become completely infatuated by the cult, and stopped caring about his job and family. Often, he was in a trance, and sometimes he was even unable to differentiate between right and wrong. Finally he got the evil idea of "ascending to Heaven and becoming a Buddha" by killing others.

After a year of treatment, Dong Ning has now realized that the practice of Falun Gong not only brought harm to his own body and mind, but also great harm to society and other people. This was the result of believing Li Hongzhi's fallacies.
