My name is Meng Zhaohua. I was born in June, 1958 and am a retired worker from a cotton mill in the economic development zone in Laiwu City. My husband was Zhu Huaian, who was born on the 29th of January in Jiaozhou, 1957. He had a middle school education and was a driver in the Zhangjiawa iron mine of Luzhong Metallurgy & Mine Corporation.
In the summer of 1998, my husband started to feel discomfort. Since he took exercise every morning, he was always in good health and we did not care about his illness. At the beginning of January, 1999, he began to feel painful in his abdomen and began to lack strength. He went to Luzhong Mine Worker’s Hospital to do an examination and was diagnosed with liver cancer with a 16cm long tumor located at the right side of his liver. In February, he was transferred to Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital and received an operation after the diagnosis (at that time the tumor extended to 18cm). The operation went smoothly and had a good result. After the operation, my husband recovered very well since we followed what the doctor required and took western and traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment. My husband’s physical condition was very good so he recovered very quickly. The Doctor-in-charge said, ‘the sequential treatment is very important, you must take injections, medicine and treatment on time. It is no problem that you could live 5-6 years longer as long as you insist on the treatment’.
On the 6th of March, we went back home and asked my husband’s company for sick leave so that he could continue the treatment according to doctor’s advice. My husband felt very good. In April, my mother and father-in-law, as well as my husband’s two sisters came to my home from Jiaozhou. They brought with them the images of Li Hongzhi, tapes, videos, and books like Zhuan Falun, saying that they were here to do ‘missionary’ work and persuaded my husband to practice Falun Gong. They told my husband that as long as he insisted on practicing Falun Gong, he did not need to take medicine and injections to cure his disease.
At that time, my family members were strongly against my husband practicing Falun Gong. They asked him to follow the doctor’s advice and take medicine for the treatment. However, under the persistence of his mother, father and sisters, my husband thought it was expensive to take medicine and considered practicing Falun Gong a good way to save money and cure disease. He began practicing Falun Gong at home following his parents and stopped all drug therapy.
Around 40 days later, my husband felt sicker and sicker, he vomited after meals and sometimes spat out blood. He called his parents who came back to Jiaozhou and told them about his situation. They were so addicted to Falun Gong and so deeply involved that they believed my husband’s symptoms were the phenomenon of ‘the Master eliminating karma’, and ‘cleansing [his] body’. They said that ‘only in this way could the disease be cured’ and prevented my husband from going to the hospital to have another examination. They also threatened my husband that, ‘if you go to the hospital, all the efforts you paid would be in vain, the Master would leave you. If the Master left you, we would leave you alone’. During this period, my husband sat in meditation for over 10 hours a day expecting to get rid of the disease and save his life by practicing Falun Gong. However, he became thinner and thinner, and his face looked more and more awful. My parents tried to persuade him to go to the hospital and do the examination, but he hesitated. He eventually agreed to see the doctor after being motivated by the entire family because his health went from bad to worse and he really suffered a lot.
On the night that we planned to go to Shanghai to see the doctor, two Falun Gong disciples of his company (female, I do not know the names) came to my home and reassured my husband that ‘the process of eliminating karma is unpleasant, but you would become better after the suffering, and you would be immortal’. Their sayings shook my husband’s mind. Through repeated persuasion , he finally agreed to go to Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital to see the doctor under our company. After thorough examination by the specialists of the hospital, the doctor said his condition had worsened. While asking about the medicine we brought back home, my husband said, ‘I did not take injections and medicine’. The doctor shook his head and said, ‘your disease was delayed.’ Although doctors tried their best to cure my husband, it was too late and no matter how good the medicine was he could not recover.
On the 22nd of July, my husband heard that the government banned Falun Gong and unveiled its evil nature while lying on his bed because of the illness. He held the book Zhuan Falun that he brought to the hospital and said regrettably, ‘Falun Gong is nonsense, it cannot save my life’! He threw the book away without finishing talking.
My husband missed his family a lot while he was critically ill. I called his parents several times asking them and other relatives to come to Shanghai hospital to see my husband, but they refused, saying that they were too old, the weather was too hot and they did not have money to come. When I replied to them saying that we could cover the travel cost so that they could come and see my husband, they still refused my invitation and said outspokenly, ‘he is not my son, he is a devil, I cannot let devil take me away’. Only when my husband’s brother and his wife (the non-disciples in Zhu’s family) came to the hospital did they tell the truth of the Zhu family not visiting. They thought that if they visited my husband in the hospital, they would ‘cheat on Master Li and they could not become immortal’. They also told him not to ‘expect family members’ visit’. After saying that, two brothers cried in one another’s arms.
15 minutes after the midnight on the 1st of August, my husband stopped breathing, passing away with hatred. After his death, my family members all came to the hospital and asked Zhu’s family to come to take care of all the things. However, no one showed up from Zhu’s family, and they said they would do nothing and let my family make decisions.
Even a vicious tiger will not eat its cubs. However, practicing Falun Gong made my husband’s parents treat their own family ruthlessly.
Recalling the miserable experience of my husband, was it the ‘truth’, ‘kindness’ and ‘tolerance’ that Falun Gong promoted? They confused and deceived people, propagating the idea that ‘disease could be cured without taking medicine’. They also alleged that ‘one person practices and the whole family could benefit’ which never comes true. Is it the ‘truth’? They abandon family which is the most precious thing in the world, do not allow people to go to hospital which delays the treatment and results in death and family tragedy. Is it the ‘kindness’? They use lame arguments and perverted logic, prevent patients from going to the hospital repeatedly, and see family members suffer from pain and disease with stained eyes. Is it the ‘tolerance’? It is proven that Li Hongzhi and Falun Dafa are hypocritical, cruel and ridiculous.
Those who are still kept in the dark about Li Hongzhi and Falun Gong need to wake up. Do not become the victims of Falun Gong! I hope more and more people can realize the fact from my husband’s death and keep away from Falun Gong and all other cults.
