I am Yang Huaqun, 45-year-old, and live in Shimen Town, Jiangjin District, Chongqing Municipality.

My mother is Zhou Hongcai. She was born on October 4, 1946, and had completed primary education. My mother was not in good health due to her years of overwork in farmland. She often suffered from pains in her waist or shoulders, and was liable to headache or cold.

One day in May 1998, Yang Ying, one of our distant relatives living in our village, came to visit us. She introduced Falun Gong to my mother. At first, my mother showed little interest in it. But when learning from Yang Ying that Falun Gong was able to cure diseases and to keep healthy with little expense, my thrifty mother was carried away. She attended lectures held by local Falun Gong groups.

At that time, my family and I knew little about Falun Gong. We thought that the relative made recommendation for the good of my mother. Moreover, we were busy earning a living. So we did not concern ourselves with my mother’s practice of Falun Gong.

In July 1999, Falun Gong was banned by government. All members of our family persuaded my mother to give up Falun Gong. But my mother got so obsessed with it that she could not get out of the shadow of Falun Gong. Instead, she thought we were “devils” bothering her practice. So she rejected our suggestions, and continued her practice at home. We did not insist as we thought that it would be ok as long as she did not join group activities.

One day in September 2008, when I did laundry for my mother, I noticed some signs of blood on her underwear. So I asked my mother how it came about. She told me that her vagina sometimes bled and she occasionally felt pains in her abdomen. As her daughter, I was very worried and advised her to go to hospital for a check. But my mother regarded the pains as a test by her master for her. She believed her karma would be eliminated and the disease would be cured by her diligent practice. She added that she had menstrual period again after her menopause occurred ten years ago. She said it was a sign of regaining youthful vigor, which reflected that she was ascending in practice.
Two of other Falun Gong practitioners who learned about this matter came to express their congratulations to my mother. Since then, my mother became more pious. Whenever we advised her to go to see doctor, she got angry, claiming that taking medicines or injections and seeing a doctor might increase her karma and bother her practice. She said we were obstacles to her practice. We tried for several times to force her to hospital, but our efforts eventually failed.

By the end of 2009, my mother suffered serious vaginal bleeding and pains in her womb. In spite of my mother’s opposition, my father and I forced her to hospital. Results of diagnosis revealed that my mother had womb cancer. We asked for hysterectomy surgery, but doctors told us it was too late because my mother was already in the terminal stage of the cancer.

On May 26, 2010, my dearest mother died with deep regret and affection for us at the age of 64.
