“The Consummation dream kills!”

Li Xin (pseudonym), born in 1952, was a native of Hunjiang District, Baisan City, Jilin Province. Due to his superstitious belief in Li Hongzhi's heresies, such as “achieving consummation”, “ascending to heaven”, and “eliminating karma", Li Xin began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. Although he suffered from chronic diseases, he refused medical treatment and medication because he believed in what Li Hongzhi said: illnesses are caused by "karma", but you can't eliminate karma by taking medicine or injections. As a result, his condition deteriorated. He came to his senses in the end, but it was already too late. He passed away on February 3, 2021.

In his early years, Li Xin was engaged in security work in his unit. Due to the nature of his job, he often had to be on the night shift and had an irregular diet. Now and then, he felt fatigue, nausea, abdominal distension, fear of food, and liver pain. After a checkup in the hospital, he was diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B. Then, he followed the doctor's requirements, rationally taking medicines in addition to proper rest and nutrition, which gradually relieved his condition.

During the qigong boom in the 1990s, there prevailed all kinds of qigong exercises. It was at that time that Li Xin took up the practice of Falun Gong. Initially, he was attracted to Falun Gong because he wanted to improve his health and save money on medical expenses.

Li Xin, now a believer in “Master” Li Hongzhi and his “Fa", became obsessed with Falun Gong. He devoted all his energy to studying the “Fa" and practicing Falun Gong. He assumed that he had found a ladder to heaven and opened the door to the "Kingdom of Heaven". He began to consider himself to be a "practitioner", and prided on being a "supernatural person", and being able to walk on God's path. And he thought that he had reached a very high level, not far from "becoming an immortal and a Buddha", and closer to "ascending to heaven and achieving consummation". Besides, he strictly followed the requirements of “Master” Li Hongzhi, firmly believing in his heretical fallacies, such as following: taking medicine while practicing Falun Gong means one not believing that Falun Gong can cure illness; anyone who believes in and practices Falun Gong needn't take medicine to cure disease; birth, aging, sickness, and death were karmic retribution, so only by cultivation could you become a supernormal person; enduring suffering is "eliminating karma”, and as long as you practice Falun Gong well, “Master” will clean up your body, keep diseases away, and let you enter the "Kingdom of Heaven". Since then, Li Xin had refused to take any medicine or go to hospital.

Li Xin's family complained about his refusing medical treatment, advising him not to stop taking medicine, as it would worsen his condition. But how could he have followed his family's advice when he was obsessed with Falun Gong? In July 1997, the state declared Falun Gong an evil cult and outlawed it. Li Xin’s family persuaded him to give up his practice in response to the call of the state. However, Li Xin was so addicted to the "heavenly world" that he decided to follow the path of Falun Gong to the end. He felt it was a pity that such a good "gong" should be banned. He even thought that if he gave up Falun Gong at this time, his “karma” would come back to him.

As a result of his long-term irregularity in "studying the Fa", "practicing gong" and "clarifying the truth", coupled with his guilty conscience, feeling of fear, and high level of stress, his condition gradually deteriorated. He felt vague pain in the liver area, general fatigue, physical weakness, nausea, emaciation, and worsening diarrhea symptoms. His face appeared dark and dull.

His family was very worried about him, persuading him to go to the hospital for a checkup. However, no matter how he was persuaded, he refused to go to hospital, saying that one had to endure some pain and suffering to repay one's karmic debt. Furthermore, he said that everything would be all right with him because he had the protection of Master’s "law body”, and that the ordinary people couldn't understand what practitioners did. He took the people who persuaded him to see a doctor as demons who blocked him from practicing cultivation.

Despite Li Xin's intransigence, the society didn’t give up on him. Anti-evil-cult volunteers came to him, patiently persuading him and taking good care of him. They explained to him the absurdity of Li Hongzhi's heretical fallacies and the evil nature of Falun Gong: anti-science, anti-society, and anti-humanity; enumerated numerous facts about the evil cult violating national laws and regulations; showed him the truth about Li Hongzhi amassing money illegally, colluding with anti-China forces, and acting as a pawn; and publicized the fact that the Party was leading the people to prosperity and strength in the new era to prompt him to wake up from the illusion of “achieving consummation” and “ascending to heaven”.

After presenting various facts and truth and discussing Falun Gong’s harms, Li Xin gradually came to his senses, realizing that Falun Gong could never cure his illness. As Li Xin's condition deteriorated, the anti-evil-cult volunteers and his family sent him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer.

Lying on the hospital bed with his breath barely perceptible, Li Xin muttered, “I have practiced Falun Gong for so many years. I thought it could keep me fit and bring blessings to my family, but I never expected I would have ended up as a cancer patient. Li Hongzhi, you have deceived me! You are a deceitful devil who has poisoned me!” On February 3, 2021, Li Xin left the world with great resentment and regret.

It was Falun Gong that had caused Li Xin to fall into a hopeless situation and lose his life prematurely, leaving his family in a state of great grief and regret. It was also Falun Gong that had deprived Li Xin of the peaceful and happy life that he should have enjoyed at his old age!
