Her name is Xiao’an (a pesudonym). She comes from Tongling, Anhui Province. She always impresses people around her with an aura of modesty and amiability. and could hardly be associated with Falun Gong cult. In 1995, Xiao’an married a man she loved for a long time at the age of 26. The next year, the couple had a beautiful cute daughter. They were supposed to live happily ever after, but with the emergence of the Falun Gong cult, everything changed so much that happiness in their life was replaced with nightmares. She said, “Now I hate it as much as once I believed in it.”

She tried to prevent her husband from believing in Falun Gong cult but ended up falling into its clutches herself.

In the summer of 1998, Xiao’an accidentally found that her husband often read books secretly, and sat in meditation without sleep even in the middle of night, which caused their first quarrel and discord after their marriage. But her husband didn’t listen to her at all as he was already obsessed with it. Xiao’an was so anxious to wake her husband up that she decided to read those books herself, and learn “Dafa” with her husband as well, hoping to figure out what was it to make her husband so addicted. At first, she did so with the idea of “nothing ventured, nothing gained”, but instead, not only did she fail to save her husband from cult fallacies, but also she was bewitched and fell into claws of Falun Gong. Since then, they were no longer in the mood for working or taking care of their barely 2-year-old daughter. Every day, they sat in meditation from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., and then read Falun Gong propaganda materials from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and studied Falun Gong books or “scriptures” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., longing for a day when they could cultivate into “gods” and enjoy an “immortal spouse life” .

They were determined to “protect Dafa” by rallying in Beijing, and didn’t even hesitate to sell their family property to finance their plan.

In 1999, Xiao’an and her husband diligently learned “Dafa” night and day and were both deeply obsessed with the Falun Gong fallacies. When Li Hongzhi called followers to rally in Beijing to “protect Dafa”, the couple decided to seize the opportunity, since the Master had claimed “it’s the last chance” to get into higher levels or even reach “Consummation”. They discussed and quickly agreed to sell the house with street frontage at a low price, to fund their journey to Beijing for demonstrations. On July 20th, they formed a “Dafa protection” squad, which consisted of 7 adults and 1 child. Xiao’an spent 4000 Yuan on renting a van which carried them to Nanjing, then from there they went to Beijing by train. During the trip, they deliberately sit apart on the train and lowered their heads whenever they spotted a railway policeman. And they never expected the journey to Beijing would wind up so frightening and scary. To make things worse, the squad got separated from each other in the crowd in order to avoid the routine security check at the exit of the train station. Therefore, Xian’an and her husband had to form a new team with another elder “Dafa protection Sister” they just met on the train. On their way to the Tiananmen Square, the three of them were extremely uneasy as if they were three “nervous rats” walking on the street. Xiao’an recalled, “I didn’t know what to do when I got there, so we only wandered about. There were lots of people on the Tiananmen Square and we knew none of them. We just nodded at them to imply that we were Falun Gong followers.” In this way, they stayed in Beijing for ten days. And finally, they had to get back home sulkily when there was not enough money left.

The couple was put behind bars together for violating laws, but the enlightened wife helped her husband realize their mistakes with love.

In the early autumn of 2000, an unexpected guest came to visit Xiao’an, who was a Xinjiang young fellow that she met when participating the “Dafa protection” in Beijing. At that time, Xiao’an gave him 600 Yuan for his travelling expenses after noticing that he was almost penniless. Therefore, in the name of paying back the money, the Xinjiang lad came with a bag of Falun Gong books. Xiao’an thought it was only right for her to share such good books with others. Then when the night fell, Xiao’an and her husband skulked out to copy those books and got caught by public security officers. This was the first time that Xiao’an and her husband were detained. She was panicked and confused, “Cells were for bad guys, but I’m a good person, so why should I be locked up in here?” “I’m determined to become an unselfish person by diligent cultivation, but I owed too much to my parents and my daughter because I was so busy with promoting or protecting Dafa”. “If one has to be like this to become a Buddha, it's not worth it at all!” After a great deal of reflection in ten days, Xiao’an finally came to her senses, “I got it! I won’t practice it anymore! I need to tell my parents about my thoughts……” At that moment, she felt the urge to pull her husband back to right track. So she talked loudly to her husband through iron bars. Aisles in the detention center were filled with the voice coming from the bottom of her heart, which made the officers there so touched. she kept calling on her husband for five days, day and night . When she felt tired, she rested for a little while, then she would continue to call on her husband. Finally, she succeeded in bringing her husband back to his senses.

They freed themselves from shackles of Falun Gong cult and started to build their new sweet home again.

Just when Xiao’an was bent on starting a new life by breaking away from Falun Gong, she suffered a head-on blow in her life again. In 2006, her father was diagnosed with advanced liver cancer, which made Xiao’an feel helpless. Her old acquaintances in the Falun Gong cult took this opportunity to try to draw her in again by praying for her father every day and offering to bear the “disaster” of her father. Xiao’an was deeply moved by them and believed that they were sincere and pious. Gradually, those Falun Gong followers won her over and made her go astray again. One day, after distributing illegal Falun Gong propaganda materials, they were caught onsite by policemen when depositing paper money printed with cult slogans into an ATM, and then they were sent to a detention center again. Although 6 years passed, the officers there still had a vivid impression of her. With surprise and pity, they had a long and heart-to-heart talk with her, explaining patiently the related national policies and regulations to her, watching video documentaries with her about how Falun Gong die-hards unlawfully besieged the Zhongnanhai compound and set themselves on fire on the Tiananmen Square, and telling her a lot of true stories on how the evil Falun Gong cult harmed innocent people. The deprogramming teachers there used experiences of her own and others as sobering lessons to prove that the so-called “Consummation” and “becoming a God” preached by Li Hongzhi were nothing but lies, which can only make patients die from lacking medical cares. With the painstaking persuasion and guidance of police officers and the teacher, Xiao’an successfully came to her senses once again in just one day.But her husband, unlike her, failed to come around in time. Therefore, Xiao’an wrote lots of long letters and text messages and asked the police officers to forward them to her husband. With the help of the government staff, and under the influence of the family tie, 22 days later, Xiao’an’s husband finally realized the evil nature of the Falun Gong and regretted for what he did, pledging to completely break up with the cult.

After returning to their normal life, Xiao’an and her husband cherish everything in their life more than ever. They work more vigorously and become better off, and their daughter was directly recommended to study abroad, all of which leads them to a happier life. Looking back on those dark years gone by, Xiao’an sighed, “Our life in that ten years was like a nightmare. Persecuted by Falun Gong cult time and time again, we nearly ended up with losing both our wealth and lives. Thanks to the help and education of the government, we could wake up from cult fallacies and see clearly into the evil nature of Falun Gong. That’s how we could have the cozy and happy family life now. Nowadays, I want nothing else but a world without any cult.”
