Liang Ying (a pseudonym), female, born in 1939 in Huaiji County, Guangdong Province. She graduated from a college, and lived in Futian District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. Before retirement, she was a teacher, and worked in many secondary schools in Shenzhen.

Liang Ying’s late husband passed away a long time ago, which left her alone to bring up their son and daughter. Fortunately, her children were filial, strived for the best, had steady income in Shenzhen and all got married, at which Liang Ying was quite gratified. Her children often visited her with her grandchildren, and her house was full of laughter. The only thing troubled her was her physical condition. She suffered from many diseases including hypertension and diabetes. For a long time, she kept taking medicines and regular medical examinations, strictly following doctor’s orders. Therefore, her physical condition was relatively steady.

One day in May 1997, Liang Ying met Huang Yuemei on the street who worked with her for years. Huang Yuemei held Liang Ying’s hands tightly as if she was holding on to a fortune, saying excitedly and mysteriously that “the cure for your disease is found. I found a miraculous doctor for you. We are practicing ‘Falun Gong’ which is quite amazing. As long as you keep practicing it, it can help cure diseases and improve health without taking medicine or injection. Come on, let’s practice it together. I can assure you that all your illness will be cured soon.” Liang Ying was deeply touched by those words and went to the practice venue to “have a try”. After practicing it for several days, especially the experience of practicing together, learning from each other, communicating with each other and planning activities together, Liang Ying got the familiar feeling of being a teacher in front of others again. In a short time, she became the person in charge of a practice station. Since then, she “cultivated” even harder. Besides sitting in meditation and practice, she would occupy herself with reading books, watching videos, and listening to tapes, completely immersing herself in “Dafa” study. And before long, she firmly believe in it and stopped taking medicines or injections.

Due to regular exercise and being in a good mood for a period, Liang Ying did feel her physical condition was improving, so she gave the credit to “Falun Gong”, believing that it was the result of her “Master” Li Hongzhi helping to heal her body, and that her disease stemmed from “Karma”, she had to eliminate “Karma” first to have a good health and get “levelling-up”. Therefore, whenever she felt physically uncomfortable, she would grit her teeth to endure it, believing that she was facing up a test after which she could be qualified to ascend to a higher “level”. She once pledged in front of others, “I will follow the ‘Master’ all my life. I will never take any medicine or medical injection, no matter what happens.”

Her children were anxious after finding out that instead of taking medicines, their mother posted many portraits of Li Hongzhi at home and placed “Falun Gong” books, cassettes, and video tapes everywhere in the house. Her son was so worried that he pleaded his mother for a change, “Mom, we are not opposed to your exercise. But we totally disagree with your decision of not taking medicine or injection. I’ve never heard of any practice that could cure all diseases.” But Liang Ying retorted, “One person in a family practicing Falun Gong would bring benefits to the whole family. Just wait and see, Mom will have a surprise for you someday. And I would never take medicines.” Furthermore, she explained clearly to her son, “Should anything happen to me someday, do not take me to hospital, because it won’t do me any good.”

In July 1999, after the state banned “Falun Gong” according to national laws, the practice station was also closed. Liang Ying couldn’t think it straight and kept practicing at home. In June 2006, Li Hongzhi said in the scripture Towards Perfection, “since all my disciples awaits to achieve Perfection, I have to do something without further ado”, which was like “a shot in the arm” for Liang Ying. She told herself “I must do something, or I will fall behind”. Therefore, she invited Huang Yuemei to go to Beijing together for a protest, and soon they were all sent back to Shenzhen.

As Liang rejected medical treatment and solely relied on practicing to “cure diseases” for a long period, her physical condition didn’t see any real improvement. As a result of her obsession with “cultivation”, frequently skipping meals, plus neglecting minor illnesses, Liang Ying suffered from severe malnutrition and other diseases. Her face looked terrible. Meanwhile, pleading from her son and intimacy from her grandson failed to change Liang Ying a bit, who, firmly believed in the fallacy that “if a Dafa disciple cares too much about family affection, he/she would be besieged, dragged down and bewitched by it……” Therefore, she kept going out to party with “fellow practitioners” secretly.

One day, Liang Ying’s daughter went to visit her, after finding that Liang Ying showed symptoms of flushing, chest tightness and being short of breath, she realized her mother was in hypertension. Her daughter begged her to take medicines but was refused. She told her daughter that she once saw a “Falun” in the portrait glittering during her cultivation, which she believed was the sign the “Master” encouraged her to keep practicing. Upon hearing the words, her daughter, feeling like weeping but having no tears, suddenly slumped to knees before her and pleaded, “Mom, I’m begging you. Please take a few pills for hypertension. It's really important to save your life!” However, Liang Ying replied calmly, “I would be fine. The law bodies of the ‘Master’ would protect me from harms. It would be all right. What you see is the consequence of my Karma getting back at me. Everything would be ok after I eliminate it. As your mother, I sincerely want you to witness the spectacular scene of one day, when “Master” comes to pick me up. By then, you will trust Mom’s judgement.”

Unfortunately, poor Liang Ying didn’t live to see the day when the “Master” came to pick her up. One day at the beginning of 2007, Liang Ying suddenly fainted in the doorway and never gained consciousness after being sent to hospital. That year, she was only 68 years old.
