Mr. Liu once became a crazy follower of Falun Gong in order to cure his illness. After recognizing the true nature of Falun Gong which claimed to be able to dispel diseases, Mr. Liu gradually realized that Falun Gong was an evil cult harming people. With the transformation in his thoughts, he quit the Falun Gong cult completely and began to do business. Now, he is full of unlimited aspirations for life, feeling that only hard work can bring prosperity.
He dragged his sick wife into the abyss of Falun Gong
Mr. Liu, 53 years old, is a native of Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province, living in a place that connects the urban and rural areas. He is a former employee of an enterprise in Xinyu City. In 1999, he began to practice Falun Gong with others without knowing what it was about. He had a busy schedule of activities every day, learning to practice meditation, coping from Zhuan Falun, listening to Li Hongzhi's lecture recordings, and watching his lecture videos. In his mind, it would change his fate.
"You should not only copy from Zhuan Falun, but also go out to clarify the truth," the director of the local Falun Gong assistance center told Mr. Liu. Thus, apart from practicing Falun Gong, Mr. Liu had an additional task of going out every day to spread Falun Dafa and distribute Falun Gong pamphlets.
Mrs. Dong, Liu's wife, had always had a bad stomach. However, Mr. Liu was too busy practicing Falun Gong to accompany her to the hospital for a checkup. Later, his wife was found to have suffered from an advanced stomach tumor, and she’d have to spend a large sum of money on medication after receiving surgery. Mr. Liu thought of “Master” Li Hongzhi, who once said that those who practiced Falun Gong would automatically have their viruses eliminated. So Mr. Liu asked his wife to practice Falun Gong as he did.
Consequently, Mr. Liu’s wife joined him in practicing Falun Gong. In addition to practicing, the couple listened to tapes and watched videos about Falun Dafa, with no time to take care of their children.
The death of his wife finally awakened him to reality
After becoming a Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Liu’s wife got more obsessed with Falun Gong than him. Nevertheless, her illness didn’t get any better because of her practice. On the contrary, it became more and more serious as time went on.
One day, Mr. Liu’s wife said to him, "Master said that we should look inward for the cause when we encounter problems. Perhaps it was because we hadn’t followed Master’s advice by going out to clarify the truth that had caused my illness to remain uncured. The reason that my illness remained uncured might be that. It might be that Master was reminding me in this way.”
From then on, the couple went out to "clarify the truth” regularly. They often went to nearby streets and suburbs together, telling people that “one person practicing benefits the whole family.” Besides, they posted Falun Gong propaganda materials in the streets and alleys to "spread the Fa". They hoped that they would thus be protected by the "law bodies" of "Master" and that the wife’s health would recover as soon as possible.
However, misfortune quietly fell upon them before blessings came. On May 29, 2010, Mr. Liu’s wife was practicing meditation at home, while Mr. Liu went out as usual and carried a large stack of Falun Gong materials for distribution. At 23:00 that day, when Mr. Liu came back, he found his wife lying on the mat of meditation with her head tilted and her face pale. After a closer look, he found that his wife had passed away.
Mr. Liu’s wife was so devout to Falun Gong that she had been practicing it until the end of her life. Why hadn’t she got protection from Li Hongzhi's "law bodies"? Feeling quite confused, Mr. Liu reflected on what he had done since he became a Falun Gong practitioner. He regretted having dragged his wife into the abyss of Falun Gong, and he realized that "not to seek medical treatment when sick" was nothing more than a heretical idea!
He started a new life after coming to his senses
After his wife's death, Mr. Liu gradually came to his senses and realized the harm of Falun Gong. With the active guidance and help of the local government and anti-evil-cult volunteers, he started a business using his skills. As his business prospered, it dawned on him that only hard work could bring prosperity. In May 2016, he remarried and started a new life.
In December 2017, Mr. Liu received a subsidy of 60,000 yuan when the old-age insurance for land-lost farmers was integrated into the old-age insurance for urban workers. In 2020, as Mr. Liu’s village was demolished for relocation, his family was allocated two resettlement houses. Now that both his son and daughter have grown up, Mr. Liu is often beaming with a happy smile on his face.
Mr. Liu hopes to create a more prosperous and happier life for his family. To that end, he devotes himself to his business. He feels that he is living a very full life at present, with unlimited aspirations for the future.
