Sun Fanxi (a pseudonym) was a man from Baohe, Hefei, Anhui Province. Because of his obsession with “Falun Gong” for 25 years, he wasted the best years of life until this year when he finally came to his senses. Looking back on the past years, he was full of remorse and hatred.
Sank into the mire of “Falun Gong”
In the 1980s, Sun Fanxi was admitted to an undergraduate college in Hefei from the countryside and became the pride of his family. After the graduation, he was recruited by a government-sponsored institution. Then, he got married and had a son, which made him even more content with his life. However, his happy life started to change after he believed in “Falun Gong”.
In 1997, Sun Fanxi was 32 years old. Being addicted to alcohol for a long time, he was hospitalized many times to treat alcoholic myocardial injury and alcoholic liver injury, which all needed to take oral medications. The doctor warned, if he didn’t give up the bad habit, the disease would come back and cause more damages. Later, words had it that “practicing Qigong could help people to keep fit and cure diseases”, and Sun Fanqi seemed to have seized a life-saving straw, and he easily fell for the story. Since then, he began to attach importance to Qigong practice, hoping to strengthen health in his prime of life.
One day, on his way to and back from work, he noticed many people sitting around a “Falun Gong” practice venue with counselors, acoustics, books and banners. He joined in and bought a book called Zhuan Falun (Turn the Dharma wheel) as required. Afterwards, he focused on his practice, stopped drinking alcohol, ate and rested regularly, as a result of which, his physical condition was gradually getting better. In his mind, he attributed such improvement to “Falun Gong” and became obsessed with it.
During working hours, he carried "Falun Gong" books with him to read while muddling through his work, and he even practiced sitting-in-meditation in the office. When he got home after work, he would ignore both his wife and son and spend all his time and energy on "learning Dafa and practicing Falun Gong". In this way, the "Falun Gong" fallacies gradually controlled his mind and made him stuck in the mire of nonsense to the extent that, he even asked his wife to practice together with him, thirsting for super-nature powers to “fly into heavens”.
Abandon family and career for “Consummation”
On July 22, 1999, the state banned “Falun Gong” in accordance with laws. That year, Sun Fanxi was just 34. He was so obsessed with the cult that he continued to believe in “Falun Gong” and kept on “practicing and learning Dafa”.
In 2000, Sun Fanxi was 35 years old. In order to pursue the ultimate goals of his cultivation such as “leveling-ups” and “achieving Consummation and ascending to heaven”, he abandoned his family, and abstain from work for a long time, living with “fellow practitioners” to “discuss Dafa and practice Falun Gong”. Furthermore, instigated by “Falun Gong” cult, he went to Beijing twice to make troubles. His wife took their son with her, and went all the way to Beijing to bring him back home. Facing his crying wife and son, Sun just kept ignoring them, or even regarded them as “demons” who tried to block him from achieving “further advancement”. His wife was so disappointed with him that she resolutely divorced him. That same year, he was sentenced 18 months of reeducation through labor for engaging in cult activities and distributing “Falun Gong” propaganda leaflets.
In 2002, Sun Fanxi was 37 years old. He was still fascinated by Li Hongzhi’s deceptive remarks, and was fully convinced that Li Hongzhi was a true “God”. He furtively organized many people to collectively “learn Dafa”, “practice Falun Gong” and “exchange experiences”. At such gatherings, words and things unfavorable to “Falun Gong” were strictly prohibited. For the sake of “achieving Consummation”, they secretly destroyed radio and TV infrastructure, trying to hijack the normal program and broadcast “Falun Gong” cult videos. As a result, he was arrested by the police, sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment, and then dismissed from the unit.
In 2015, the 50-year-old Sun Fanxi was released from prison. It seemed that he had come to his senses and returned to his normal life. But in fact, there was no fundamental change in his mindset. He believed that, what he had experienced in the past was just a “test” from his “Master,” and he was even closer to the day when he could achieve a “Law-body” and the “Consummation.”
In 2018, incited by “Master” Li Hongzhi’s “new scriptures”, Sun Fanxi was sure that he was about to achieve “Consummation,” only a step away from “Ascension in Broad Daylight”. In order to make further “advancement” to finish the last step, he produced a large number of illegal “Falun Gong” propaganda materials and travel around to do the so-called “truth clarification”. Consequently, he was sentenced again to 4 years in prison for participating cult organization and violating state laws that year.
Finally awaken and return to normal life
In the spring of 2022, after finishing his second term of imprisonment, the 57-year-old Sun Fanxi was released. Anti-cult volunteers chatted with him every day, analyzing his past, encouraging him to renounce his faith in “Falun Gong” and bravely face his future.
He began to reflect on his past, from the age of 32 to 57, which was his prime of life destroyed by the cult. In all those years, the so-called “Consummation” and “flying up to heaven” were just delusions that he had longed for. In reality, he had no career, no family or relatives. And his life was totally ruined by “Falun Gong”. Otherwise, he could’ve had a happy family and a successful career.
With the warm help of anti-cult volunteers, he finally came to realize the real danger of the evil “Falun Gong” cult and successfully got rid of its mind control. “I was too foolish!” said Sun Fanxi with great remorse. “I advise those who are still obsessed with ‘Falun Gong,’ stop believing in it and stop serving as its pawns. There is no such thing as ‘Consummation’ or ‘heavenly kingdom’. The only right path to take is to believe in the government and break away from the evil cult.”
